Overture

Year by year, she paints our number — and year by year, we sing.

The soundtrack of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a 154-track fresco composed by Lorien Testard, with vocalist and co-writer Alice Duport-Percier. Forty-nine of those tracks carry lyrics — in French, English, Latin, German, and a constructed language invented by Testard himself, so that no player could decipher the story before the ending was ready to tell it.

This page is a listening room and a reading desk. Every vocal track is laid out with its official original lyrics — as published on the soundtrack's official uploads — on one side, and an English translation on the other, followed by notes on what the words mean, how they were translated, and where they echo across the score. Press the small ▶ to listen without leaving the page.

Lumière

The city of light, and a melody that hides its meaning.
01

2:50

Original — Constructed (official)

Kasoi dalé u Moi dané Goséi dané Kala soika tovla Goséi moéto Maella itade nai Dosokémo naémai Alicia itade nai Verso édaéké Lune ai Maella itade nai Dosokémo naémai Alicia itade nai Verso édaéké Lune ai

English translation

(constructed verse — meaning hidden by design) ↻ see the revealed reading below Maelle has a life to paint Don't cry, don't look back Alicia has a life to paint Verso in the night Lune beside him ↻ the chorus repeats
Translation notes

The menu theme is sung in Testard's constructed language, so that no player could understand the lyrics prematurely. The official sheet confirms the chorus returns twice. The melody comes back as track 49, «Maelle», sung in French — revealing that each line names a character and grants them «a life to paint».

I use a fictional language. And then, when you progress in the adventure, you can really discover the meaning of the lyrics.— Lorien Testard

Translation notes

«Lutece» is Lutetia, the Roman name for Paris. The French verbs are set in the future tense (courbera — «will bend», trouvera — «will find»), turning the chorus into prophecy; rature is a crossing-out, an erasure — the Gommage's own word. Between the verses, the song rides a long vocalise refrain before the prophecy returns in cycles.

Translation notes

Plays as the expedition departs from Lumière. The official lyric sheet published for «The Departure» is identical to «Lumière»'s — the departure reprises the city's theme in full, prophecy and all. (A previous transcription circulating online, with a «curator» verse, does not appear in the official sheet.)

Linen and Cotton

Spring Meadows
3:47

Original — English (official)

Linen and Cotton blend Feel the ink flowing in your veins It will be blood of your life Give up the knife Dont be afraid of the passing time There are so many different times Dont be afraid of the passing time You will be fine Infinite time Remaining time Fleeing time Suspended time Infinite time Remaining time Fleeing time Suspended time Linen and Cotton blend Feel the ink flowing in your veins It will be blood of your life Give up the knife Every sorrow is born of love Every love transcend sorrow Every sorrow is born of love Time transcend pain Daughter Sister Mother Paintress Daughter Sister Mother Paintress

English — original language

No translation needed — sung in English. Note «Every love transcend sorrow» (sic, as published).
Translation notes

Weaving imagery stands in for artistic creation: thread, ink and blood merge into one substance, and «give up the knife» cuts both ways. The heart of the song is its two litanies — the four times (infinite, remaining, fleeing, suspended: the ways the Gommage bends time) and the four roles of Aline: «Daughter / Sister / Mother / Paintress», sung twice.

Beneath the Blue Tree

Spring Meadows
3:11

Original — Latin (official)

Dies Irae Dies Illa Solvet Sanctum In favila Este Renoir cum Alina Este Renoir cum Alina In Eternum misericordiaeius In Eternum misericordiaeius Quantus tremor Es futurus Quando Iudex Es venturus Recorda Reverso Qui Aché derit nomis Quantus tremor Es futurus Quando Iudex Es venturus Este Renoir cum Alina Este Renoir cum Alina

English translation

Translation notes

Far more hymn survives than first thought: after the opening of the 13th-century Dies Irae — with Sanctum («the holy») replacing «the world», and Renoir and Alina woven into the Latin — the song continues into the hymn's next verse, Quantus tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus («how great the tremor shall be, when the Judge shall come»), before dissolving into pseudo-Latin. A requiem for the world, rewritten as one family's story.

L'Aurore aux Doigts de Roses

Spring Meadows
1:38

Original — French (official)

Lendemains incertains Lumière du lointain Adieu Chant en choeur Monde en pleurs Paintress Impuni Lumière dansante Solitaire Notre âme éternelle L’aurore en fleurs Larmes Couleurs Douceur du matin Ô jour sans fin Aurore aux doigts de roses

English translation

Uncertain tomorrows Light from afar Farewell Singing in chorus World in tears Paintress unpunished Dancing light Solitary Our eternal soul Dawn in flowers Tears Colors Sweetness of morning Oh, endless day Dawn with rosy fingers
Translation notes

The title is Homer's epithet for Eos — rhododaktylos, «rosy-fingered» dawn. Paintress impuni mixes English and Latin-flavoured French («unpunished»): the one who erases the world has faced no judgment. The official sheet frames the lament between «uncertain tomorrows» and an «endless day» — dawn arriving over a world that may not see it.

07

Lune

Character theme
3:21

English translation

In the silence and the night Magic and poetry come to life Taciturn glimmer Muse of nocturnal souls Half-moon, in half-words Whisper, spread your cloak Chiaroscuro of the night Your wisdom illuminates our minds Sketch in the air Your magic works, ether dust Source of creation Creatures of your imagination ↻ refrain Feverish artist, invisible brushes Indelible ink strokes Crescent of dreams In this world where everything ends As the moon melts into dawn Your heart settles In the drawn darkness Toward eternity ↻ refrain
Translation notes

Lune's theme keeps its untranslatable pun: demi-lune, à demi-mots — «half-moon» (her name) spoken «in half-words». The official sheet settles two details: it is à demi-mots (plural), and the final verse reads dans l'obscurité dessinée, vers l'éternité — «in the drawn darkness, toward eternity», the artist's line and her fate in one image.

Translation notes

An Act 1 world-map theme in the constructed language. The official sheet confirms the song's architecture: two verse cycles, then the key — a roll-call of the entire Dessendre family (Renoir, Cléa, Verso, Alicia, Maelle, Alina), the painters and the painted, sung into the world map itself.

Approximate reading
(battle chant in the constructed language — the boss's name is inside it: «Solita Goblu»)
Translation notes

The Goblu boss theme was an early draft from four years before release that Testard had nearly deleted — director Guillaume Broche rescued it from his «trash folder». The official sheet shows the chant is mostly the two hammering cells «Luster / Cruler» and «Avacha kapa satara» — percussion first, language second.

Guillaume heard it and said 'I really love this one. Let's use it!' It was about to be completely erased.— Lorien Testard

Un 33 Décembre à Paris

Lumière
2:13

Vocalizations

Non-lexical vocals throughout — humming, la-la-la refrains.

English

No official lyric sheet was published for this track — the voice is an instrument, not a language. The title is the lyric: «A 33rd December in Paris», a date that cannot exist.
Translation notes

The calendar of a painted city ruled by the number 33. The wordless vocals capture the Belle Époque atmosphere of Lumière, like a street singer heard through café windows.

11

Gestral Merchant

Gestral Village
3:17

Vocalizations

Rhythmic, laughter-like chanting — no words.

English

No official lyric sheet was published. Untranslatable by design: the Gestrals simply find everything hilarious.
Translation notes

The Gestrals are the chaotic little creatures of the painted world. Their «song» is laughter used as an instrument — the purest expression of a species that treats existence as a game while humans around them are erased year by year.

12

Character theme
3:28

Original — French (official)

Luit, étincelle, Fragment essentiel Éclat, clarté Ardent, regard vigilant Heurt du néant Inertie irréelle À-coup existentiel Splendeur de l’arc-en-ciel Sentinelle, va et vient rétinien Sereine, ton art est assassin Libre, le vent délivre ton coeur Aérienne, ton élan est sans peur Sciel, ton chagrin annuel T’ôtes l’éternel Eveil, Veilleuse Attend, la toile s’efface dans le temps Inertie irréelle À-coup existentiel Splendeur de l’arc-en-ciel Sciel, autrefois tu écoutais nos voix À présent, notre absence t’émois Cri, chante, rit, chute Sable du temps Poussière libre, âme du néant

English translation

Translation notes

The calm heart of the expedition — and the lyric smuggles in her melancholy: ton chagrin annuel t'ôtes l'éternel, the yearly grief of the Gommage taking the eternal from her. Veilleuse is untranslatable in one word: both «night-watcher» and the small night-light left burning. The last image, poussière libre («free dust»), is what the erased become.

13

Lights of the Past

Stone Wave Cliffs
3:00

Original — English (official)

See the darkness of the hell The old rusty bells Black birds in shadow Eternal complain dwell Sigh, groan in vain Crual pain

English — original language

No translation needed — sung in English, in an archaic, liturgical register.
Translation notes

The official sheet prints «Sigh, groan in vain» and «Crual pain» (sic — an archaic spelling of cruel, kept as published). Rusty bells and black birds dress the battlefield where earlier expeditions fell; the «lights of the past» are the dead, still faintly shining.

14

Loin d'Elle

«Far from her»
3:00

Original — Constructed (official)

English — approximate reading

Approximate reading
This is Alina Here she lies, alone …the world Alina But Renoir thunders Fire — Verso Oh, Alina Save Alina Free the light Come — Alicia Save Alina Free the light Come — Alina Alina
Translation notes

«Far from her.» The constructed language dissolves into three real tongues at once: French (mais), Spanish (fuego — the fire that killed Verso) and Latin roots (livare, to free). The official sheet confirms the second Livare verse calls not for Alicia but for Alina herself — and that this track and «Renoir» (track 41) share the exact same lyric sheet.

Translation notes

The first of the three 11-minute suites: a duet between Alice Duport-Percier (Aline) and Victor Borba (Renoir), a husband and wife arguing across the canvas. The official sheet holds both verdicts at once — notre amour demeure («our love remains») and notre amour se meurt («our love is dying») — and a roll-call of the whole family inside the chiaroscuro. The rhyme peinture / rature («painting / erasure») is the whole game in two words.

Translation notes

«Dualist» — two forces in conflict. Eclata Picto y Lumi welds Latin (pictus, painted) to the game's own vocabulary: Pictos and Chroma sung as sacred words. Twice the song drops the mask into plain French — quand ta peine chavira dans la melancholia («when your pain capsizes into melancholy») and the proverb qui vivra verra, «time will tell».

Translation notes

No official lyric sheet was published for this track, and community transcriptions conflict — an alternative reading (Genius) gives «Infrasons éphémères / Bruit blanc perdu dans l'éther… Parade de constellations». Translation notes

A mantra for the Yellow Forest, where time itself is warped — the official sheet confirms the two looping cells exactly. The title tells us how to hear them: as the slow numbering of hours that no longer pass in a straight line. Verified against the official lyrics.

Translation notes

«Tear the canvas.» The complete official sheet — two full stanzas precede the famous verse (the excerpt previously shown on this page began mid-song). The prophecy still runs on future-tense verbs; mais toujours son fils perdra stays deliberately double — Aline's dead son and Renoir's are the same boy. Noa mourra: «Noa will die.»

English translation

Silent accord of our souls Ghost lips and pale death-rattles The light goes out In the distance, she rises Alone, without detour Dream, without return The light goes out Iris petals invade the streets of the waning day Accomplice cloud of the wavering chiaroscuro Shades of sorrow, dancing around the coastal hours Floral eclipse The light goes out Variations in the air Vapors of our flesh Bitter breath The light goes out Deliberate off-beat Solitary counter-song The light goes out If time loses itself against the current The one-way mirrors reveal their nature If our pulses play against the heart Our love will watch over the measure The light goes out Paleness of day Deaf hearts Mirror of our loves The light goes out Ties and harness, ropes drawn tight Sea knots and crimson reefs Shaken waves, doubts about to capsize The light goes out Knots adrift Bonds in decline Mist that bleeds The light goes out Alone, helpless Dream, shapeless Dark, forever The light goes out At the last glimmers overseas At the dawn of a new day The cormorants fly against the light The light goes out
Translation notes

A lament for the dying city, dense with maritime vocabulary — cordages (rigging), récifs carmin (crimson reefs), chavirer (to capsize): Lumière sung as a ship going down. Miroirs sans tain are mirrors stripped of their silvering — reflections that show only truth. The song opens with the «Alicia» leitmotif, which the official sheet does not transcribe. Written for the Gommage prologue, then moved.

In the beginning, this song was for the Gommage, so I created this song for the prologue of the game. At the end of the production, we felt it was too niche, so we put 'Lost Voice' on it and it was a really good decision.— Lorien Testard

Approximate reading
(constructed verses — untranslated by design) This is Alicia… Verso will live Crimson siren… Cléa will lose her spirit Be strong, Maelle — Lumière turns vermilion in the sun
Translation notes

«A father's love» — Renoir Dessendre's theme. The whole drama rides on two future-tense verbs: vivra («will live» — his desperate hope for Verso) and perdré («will lose» — Cléa's foreshadowed fate). The official sheet's last image, en soleil va da Lumine vermeil, shows the city of light bleeding vermilion in the sun. The same words return in track 35, from the mother's side.

Robe de Jour

2:21

Original — French (official)

Reine dans sa robe, elle rayonne Lumière de velours Dans sa robe de jour feutrée Elle dessine, mouvement parfait Douceur de l’âme Elle chante, souffle calme Ballet enchanté par la grâce et la beauté, Merveille du jour, Dans sa robe d’amour, animée Elle vit, monde réjoui, beauté Douceur de l’âme Elle chante, souffle calme En mouvement, tout autour

English translation

Translation notes

The vocabulary of haute couture — robe, velours, feutrée («felted / hushed») — dresses the Siren as the ideal of feminine creation by day. Elle rayonne means both «she radiates» and «she reigns by radiance». Compare the night counterpart, track 25.

Rouge d'Iris

Sans elle, Sirène Trouvera pour elle Coeur, Ballet, Beauté Amour ôté Merveille du jour Ô pétales, Ô douceur de l’âme Enchanté, Ô Rouge d’Iris Sans toi, sans elle, Maelle Pour elle, Sirene, Brisera réel Belle de nuit, beauté Amour arraché Merveille du jour Ô pétales, Ô douceur de l’âme Enchanté, Ô Rouge d’Iris Sans toi, sans elle, Maelle

English translation

Without her, Siren Will find for her Heart, Ballet, Beauty Love taken away Wonder of the day Oh petals, oh sweetness of the soul Enchanted, oh Red of Iris Without you, without her, Maelle For her, Siren Will shatter the real Beauty of the night Love torn away ↻ wonder of the day…
Translation notes

The iris holds a double iris: the flower whose petals flood the streets, and the iris of the eye. The second verse sharpens the threat — brisera réel, «will shatter the real», and amour arraché, love «torn away», a verb of uprooting. Day dress against night, creation against its price.

English translation

Siren, chained Noble queen, weeping Poem of love She reigns — deaf world In her dress of satin ebony She growls, she destroys — ravaged And cries drama, cruelty of the soul ↻ refrain In strength and pain She devours — nightmares and terror And unleashes — storm, world in pain ↻ refrain In her dress of satin ebony She growls, she destroys — ravaged And unleashes — storm, world in pain
Translation notes

The night-dress counterpart to «Robe de Jour». Éplorée is tragic-register weeping; monde sourd («deaf world») condemns the world for not hearing her grief. The queen who «radiated» by day now devours nightmares and unleashes storms — creation and destruction in one figure.

Aria pour un Masque de Colère

Visages — «Mask of anger»
2:16

Original — English (official)

Gone away, gone away Empty are these chamber That uses to beat with embers Glowing bright and fierce and proud I’m reaching for the stars The ones I’ve seen for so long My tear, misery All is wrong I’m reaching for the stars the ones I’ve seen for so long My heart, my soul All around I try to remember times that we shared The laughter and love that we always shared He gave his life for mine and I will always mourn My brother’s gone But his love will live on

English — original language

No translation needed — sung in English.
Translation notes

Verso mourning his brother, who died in the fire that disfigured Alicia. The full official sheet is more literal than earlier transcriptions: «empty are these chamber / that uses to beat with embers» (sic, as published) fuses the burnt mansion's rooms with the chambers of a heart. The aria form gives private grief a stage — anger worn as a mask, as the title admits.

Aria pour un Masque de Tristesse

Ô traurigkeit Ô Herzen Lied Ô traurigkeit Ô Herzen Lied Sunden gegeben Sunden gegeben Ô Herzen Lied

English translation

Oh, sadness Oh, heart-song Oh, sadness Oh, heart-song Sins given Sins given Oh, heart-song
Translation notes

The only track in German — the language of the Romantic lied, chosen for a mask of sadness. Correction: the official sheet reads «Ô Herzen Lied» — oh, heart-song (Herz + Lied) — not «Herzenkeit», as an earlier transcription (and this page's previous note) had it. «Sünden gegeben»: sins given.

Translation notes

Voleo leans on Latin volo but works as «I see» — the painter's eye passing over her three children. The interlude Portrait imparfait / Idéal mental states the tragedy of the whole canvas: a painted copy can never equal the ideal the grieving mother holds in her mind. The official sheet confirms the «Voleo» triad is the song's final word.

Translation notes

«Against the heart.» The title is French while the lyric stays in the constructed tongue; the recurring moina («me / self») binds Clea and Alicia to the speaker. The Atelier is where Clea fashions the Nevrons and the heart protecting the Paintress — a work-song sung against her own heart, its verses returning like shifts at the bench.

Approximate reading

Translation notes

Clea's theme is a single litany, repeating: Laboe Paintress («praise the Paintress», cf. Latin laudo) against Guardeo Vilaness («guard the villain») — worship and accusation in one breath. Correction: an earlier transcription ended with «Fare Noi / Picta Mona / Abanata / Asse Moi» — those lines do not appear in the official sheet.

Naissance des cendres

The Reacher — «Birth of ashes»
2:26

Vocalizations

Wordless vocals with guttural, phonetic utterances.

English

No official lyric sheet was published — a voice before language, climbing toward the Monolith.
Translation notes

«Birth of ashes.» The Reacher is the final ascent toward the Paintress's Monolith; the title compresses the game's whole cycle — birth out of ashes, the phoenix logic of a world erased and repainted.

32

Orphelin

Translation notes

Verso as the orphaned son. Fané is the word for wilted flowers — love not dead but faded, and the official sheet sharpens it: the orphan is not just «born of» faded loves, he naît of them, again and again. Ailes sans roi — wings with no king to fly home to; the horizon becomes his canvas.

English translation

Translation notes

Aline — the Paintress in her true identity, a grieving mother — begs her daughter to escape the painted world. The verbs belong to sewing and canvas-work: tranche en la trame (cut the weave), découd (unstitch). To save her child she asks her to destroy the painting. Her plea, sors et fuis, echoes across the whole score.

Translation notes

The Paintress's theme opens with her daughter's leitmotif, passes the whole family in review (A Maella, a Luminé… A Cléa… Renoir), then lands on Aline's own plea from track 33 — sors et fuis. Villain and victim share one voice: the monster the expeditions came to kill is a mother asking her child to run.

Original — Constructed

Documented as reusing the lyric of «L'Amour d'un Père» (track 22).

English

Unverified
No official lyric sheet was published for this track. The claim that it mirrors «L'Amour d'un Père» is widely accepted among listeners, but cannot be confirmed from official lyrics.
Translation notes

«A mother's love.» A mirror track: the melody of «A Father's Love» returned from Aline's perspective — the mother who entered her dead son's painting out of grief and became the Paintress. Same love, same loss, opposite sides of the canvas.

36

English

Translation notes

«We Lost» was the game's working title. Correction: the official sheet does not choose between hope and grief — it alternates notre amour demeure («our love remains») and notre amour se meurt («our love is dying»), refrain after refrain (and it is pleurer en couleurs, plural). An earlier note on this page had the «demeure / se meurt» comparison backwards.

Original — French (official)

Dolorosa Dolorosa Songe, sombre Dilué dans le néant Songe, Sombre Dans l’ombre Laisse moi Laisse moi M’envoler en fumée Ombre sombre dans la pénombre Sombre dans la pénombre Songe, sombre Dilué dans le néant Songe, Sombre Dans l’ombre Laisse moi reposer en paix

English translation

Dolorosa Dolorosa Dream, dark Diluted into the void Dream, dark In the shadow Let me Let me Fly away as smoke Dark shadow in the half-light Dark in the half-light ↻ dream, dark… Let me rest in peace
Translation notes

The title evokes the Stabat Mater Dolorosa — the grieving mother at the cross. Songe, sombre are near-homophones («dream» / «dark»), the two endings in one sound; dilué is a painter's word, pigment thinned to nothing; pénombre is the half-light between them.

Translation notes

Testard named this one of his favorite tracks. The four English verbs — see, feel, fear, need — are a child's whole vocabulary toward a parent, oscillating between love and terror; the official sheet frames them inside the constructed lullaby (moina enfant — «my child»?).

I really love the lyrics and writing everything in that song. It's really inspirational and emotive for me.— Lorien Testard

Translation notes

Renoir tonare borrows the Latin tonare, to thunder: the father as storm. Fuego Verso — the fire that killed his son — breaks into Spanish, a foreign word for the wound from outside the canvas. The official sheets confirm this track and «Loin d'Elle» (track 14) share the identical lyric, line for line.

Translation notes

The second suite, under the ending where Maelle stays. Avec toi / sans lui — «with you / without him» — is the price of that ending in two prepositions, and the official sheet makes it literal: à chaque trait, sa mort, encre sans lui — each brushstroke inks his death. Aline's own plea (sors et fuis) and the «Our Painted Hatred» phrase are both woven in.

Endless Light

The in-between
4:56

Original — English (official)

Darkness looms, as one soul decides, To take the path where hope subsides. In this battle of hearts, let's search for grace, Find a way to mend what's been misplaced. In this world, we both reside, One wants to fade, the other stays beside. On this canvas, though it may not be real, We're battling for the fate we feel. Our drafts collides, in this endless light, Two souls entwined, in a desperate fight. To decide if you should stay or depart, In this painted world, love's light departs. As our journey part, our paths diverge, One fades, hearken to the distant dirge. Leaving behind pieces of an immortal heart In this painted world, love's light departs. In the depths of despair, we seek for a sign, A reason to linger, a love to redefine. In each other's eyes, there's a flicker of hope, In this world we've woven, we learn to cope. Our drafts collides, in this endless light, Two souls entwined, in a desperate fight. To decide if you should stay or depart, In this painted world, love's light departs. In this world, together We'll find our place, Our drafts collides in an eternal embrace. Our drafts collides

English — original language

No translation needed — sung in English.
Translation notes

«Drafts» carries the song's double meaning: rough sketches and currents of air — two outlines, two winds, meeting in the white space between endings. The full official sheet is an entirely different, much richer text than earlier fan transcriptions («Darkness looms, as one soul decides…»); this page previously carried a short, incorrect version.

English translation

Translation notes

The climax: a bilingual duet between Alice Duport-Percier and composer Lorien Testard himself — creation and creator negotiating the farewell. The official sheet reveals the French verse's full scope: nos desseins se confrontent («our designs collide» — the title, in French) answered «for our entwined souls, for our torn hearts». The outro closes the loop with the «Alicia» leitmotif.

Verso's farewell
2:33

Original — English (official)

Old friend, you’ve traveled miles Spinning in circles Your blind eyes on the dial Stripping out the colors A man whose steps leave no trace A man whose voice sounded like tears A man whose memory erase A man whose time flow off-beats You’ll learn that all is not in vain All that matters remains But it’s time, to say goodbye Until next life A man whose steps leave no trace A man whose voice sounded like tears A man whose memory erase A man whose time flow off-beats

English — original language

No translation needed — sung in English by Ben Starr, Verso's voice actor.
Translation notes

Verso's portrait in four anaphoric lines: «a man whose steps leave no trace / whose voice sounded like tears / whose memory erase / whose time flow off-beats» (as published) — an immortal, painted being out of sync with the world. Built like a folk farewell, an «Auld Lang Syne» for a friend you will only meet again in another life. An earlier transcription here was missing two of the four verses.

Maelle (the «Alicia» leitmotif — constructed, see track 01) (the hidden refrain — see track 49) ↻ (repeats) Maelle — Alicia Together, even apart Our stories in the same gaze One without him The other by his side In every canvas, an eternal dream — Maelle In every star, her voice — Alicia Our tears answer one another An echo across the worlds Let us dance in the chiaroscuro Where love reassures Under rains of flowers Our dreams woven heart to heart Dance, dance, in the chiaroscuro Where love reassures Through days, through nights, without tomorrows Our dreams reach out Keep dreaming Keep dancing Leave behind the fire and the shadows Canvas of dream, countless stars In the chiaroscuro Keep dreaming Keep singing A gentler sky, of blue-gold light So they may return, little by little Chiaroscuro, blur of erasure Will bend Eiffel Chiaroscuro, guarded painting Maelle will remain (×2) Dark — light — dark — light Painting faces, entwined bodies Canvas of tenderness, Lumière at peace Ode to lovers reunited (the «Alicia» motif) Between the light and the dark Let us dance in silence, all is pure When shadows touch the light We find our place Ephemeral Keep dreaming Keep drawing Thus time is erased The absent return to dance Dreams endure — in the chiaroscuro To dream in the chiaroscuro (×2) Dreams endure — in the chiaroscuro (the «Alicia» motif) Gardens of flowers on our beds of tears Gently, a drawing without drama Ballet of color, iridescent hues In every petal, a dream set free
Translation notes

The third and most hopeful suite — the «Alicia» melody as a dreamlike waltz. Note what happens to the old refrain: where tracks 02 and 46 sang trouvera sans elle («will find without her»), this finale sings restera Maelle — «Maelle will remain». Ensemble, même à l'écart («together, even apart») is the bittersweet thesis of the ending.

Aux Lendemains non Écrits

«To unwritten tomorrows»
4:02

English translation

Mirror of time, our stories align In the hollow of our hands, two worlds take shape One painted with dreams, where sorrow fades The other, bare and real, where our mourning takes place To the unwritten tomorrows Beneath the stars, where all begins, nothing ends In the embrace of fate The bonds remain, eternal, in the drawing Blank canvas, distant horizon Let us paint together the colors of tomorrow In chiaroscuro, infinite works Each step traces the path of a life ↻ refrain
Translation notes

The epilogue. Deux mondes se dessinent names the two endings without choosing; toile vierge, the blank canvas, is the only image of the future the song allows. The final promise: les liens restent, éternels, dans le dessin — the bonds remain, eternal, in the drawing, even when the canvas is torn. Verified against the official lyrics.

Maelle

The reveal — mirror of track 01
2:50

Original — French (official)

Je t’aimerai toujours Je rêverai encore Pleurerai encore Aimer, oublier et rêver Pleurerai pour toi Maelle a une vie à peindre Douce étoile effacée Alicia a une vie à peindre Verso dans la nuit Lune près de lui Maelle a une vie à peindre Douce étoile effacée Alicia a une vie à peindre Verso dans la nuit Lune près de lui

English translation

I will always love you I will dream again Will cry again To love, to forget and to dream I will cry for you Maelle has a life to paint Sweet, faded star Alicia has a life to paint Verso in the night Lune beside him ↻ the verse repeats
Translation notes

The key that unlocks track 01: the menu theme's constructed syllables resolve into French, line for line — Maella itade nai was always Maelle a une vie à peindre. Correction: the official sheet has no «Aline a une vie à peindre» verse (an earlier addition on this page) — the second verse simply repeats, sealing each name with a life of its own to paint.
